Drainfield Installation, Marietta, GA

In Marietta, GA, Action Septic Tank Service needed to replace a drainfield. We removed the old, deteriorated concrete lines and installed high capacity chamber. See the attached photos.

Prior to the repair, the Marietta customer experienced a septic backup and could not flush the toilets inside the home. We dug down and found the concrete lines were broken, filled with dirt and not being utilized. The water was not able to travel through the drainfield and into the yard.

To fix, we replaced the broken, concrete lines with 195 feet of high capacity chamber. This installation allowed the system to properly flow. On-site chambers are engineered for strength and performance and have optimal installation flexibility. No rock, gravel or sand is needed. They can be installed in a straight line trench or around curves. The chamber system is the most advanced way to install a drainfield in the on-site industry.

Upgrading your septic tank will help to improve system function and protect your drainfield. Consider installing access risers, adding an effluent screen and/or putting in a two-compartment tank.

Installing access risers makes it easy to locate the septic tank and allows access for maintenance and repair without having to dig up the yard. They are cost effective, won’t deteriorate and rot over time and are easier to install. PVC risers have lightweight fiberglass lids that cannot be removed without proper equipment.

An effluent screen is a filter that fits into the outlet end of the septic tank. It allows the water to pass through the tank into the soil absorption area while catching the solids. This keeps the drainfield from clogging and eventually failing. Effluent screens require little maintenance, are cost effective and can be installed into existing septic tanks.

If you’re installing a new septic tank, think about getting one with two compartments. These tanks are larger, trap the solids more effectively and better protect the drainfield.

Baffle Replacement, Alpharetta, GA

In Alpharetta, GA, Action Septic Tank Service replaced a deteriorated outlet baffle with a PVC sanitary tee. See the before-and-after photos attached.

Septic tanks should have an inlet and outlet baffle at the inlet and outlet ends. Both should be checked during a septic inspection and/or service.

The inlet baffle directs flow from the house sewer down to the septic tank, detains the sewage and allows the solids to settle. This creates the sludge on the bottom of the tank. The inlet baffle also keeps the scum from plugging up the inlet pipe.

The outlet baffle prevents floating scum and sewage from exiting the septic tank and entering and clogging the drainfield. Many times, an effluent screen is added at the outlet baffle to also keep the scum and sludge from leaving the tank.

Baffles must be properly installed and connected so they are accessible for inspection, repair and replacement. Effluent screens should be properly cleaned as well.

Hydro Jetting in Dunwoody, GA

Prior to jetting, the main line was filled with build-up, including fats, oils and grease. The blockage caused sewage to back up inside the home. Action Septic Tank Service used a jetting machine to clear and unstop the line.

On this septic project, the existing concrete drainfield was deteriorated, broken down and unusable. Also, the line from the septic tank to the drainfield was incorrectly installed and running uphill. This caused the septic tank to improperly drain and overfill.

To repair, Action Septic Tank Service installed new leveled lines using 200 feet of high capacity chamber. Chambers provide a greater treatment area to handle more wastewater with higher efficiency. They’re engineered for strength and performance and have optimal installation flexibility. We also replaced the broken main line from the house to the tank and added a new riser and lid. This residential septic project began with pumping the 1500-gallon septic tank. Then, we replaced the outlet tee to prevent sewage from backing up into the pipes. We reconnected the outlet tee to the drainfield and pumped the drainfield lines that were clogged with sewage and solids.

Septic and drainfield failures are often caused by poor maintenance, root blockages, too much organic matter in the effluent, soil that is overly saturated from storm water, excessive water use, vehicles parking/driving over the septic system, cracking pipes, and improper septic design, location and installation.

Crossover, Dunwoody, GA

In Dunwoody, GA, Action Septic Tank Service performed a crossover. The attached video shows the result of our work.

Prior to the repair, this septic system was not properly distributing the effluent to all four drainfield lines. The line shown in this video was one of the two not being utilized, and the septic system wasn’t operating at full capacity. This forced the water level inside the septic tank to overfill and backup into the house.

To repair, we excavated the dry, unused portion of the drainfield. We dug down to where the effluent was reaching and made a path for the water to travel to the dry runs. Then, we reconnected the two lines which allowed for the flow of effluent. The system was now working at full capacity and using all of its lines.
